Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story
June 1-July 17
Read daily and attend library programs this summer to win prizes! Summer Reading is open to all ages. Register and pick up your fossil discovery log at the library starting June 1. Your goal is to read for at least 20 minutes a day for 30 days, and our communal goal is to unearth a mystery dinosaur! Here’s how it works:
- Reading at least 20 minutes in a day = 1 day of reading (audiobooks and being read to counts!)
- Every 5 days of reading gets you 1 ticket for the grand prize raffle, PLUS:
- At 5 days of reading, ages 0-12 choose a prize from the paleontologist’s prize pail
- At 10 days, all ages get a baseball ticket or coupon
- At 15 days, ages 0-12 choose from the paleontologist’s prize pail
- At 20 days of reading, all ages get a full-size candy bar
- At 25 days, ages 0-12 choose from the paleontologist’s prize pail
- At 30 days of reading, all ages choose a book to keep.
- At every library program you attend, you’ll get 1 ticket for the grand prize raffle.
There are 15 grand prizes up for grabs this summer! Show your log to library staff to get a raffle ticket for every 5 days you read. Raffle jars will be set up in the library, and you can enter your tickets for whichever prize(s) you hope to win. Come in throughout the summer to cash in your reading for prizes and raffle tickets; the deadline to bring your logs in is Friday, July 17. We will draw winners at the culminating Concert in the Park that Friday.
